SLA Theories In A Nutshell!

SLA theory has come a long way in a relative short time. From mimicry and behaviorism to usage-based theories and complex adaptive systems - the range of theories and approaches to SLA is really quite broad.

Luckily for you I am not going to rehash or debate the pros and cons of each theory – no siree bob (Who has that much time?). Instead, what I am going to do is give you a brief overview of the more prominent theories before moving on to discuss the importance of drawing from sound (and current) teaching and learning theories and methodologies when you are teaching and preparing for your classes.
